Termoneeny Runners continue to shine!

It was another week of fantastic accomplishments for Termoneeny Running Club with a group of committed athletes representing the club at the prestigious Dublin City Marathon and other TRC members shone at events closer to home.

MUSA Parkrun

Michael Burke and Stephen Pickering had brilliant results at MUSA parkrun on Saturday morning.  Michael ran his 19th parkrun and finished in 7th place with an impressive time of 19:34.  Stephen completed his 3rd parkrun in 11th place with a super time of 20:05 which secured him a new personal best.

Bobby Rea Memorial XC

The Bobby Rea Memorial Cross Country took place at the CAFRE Greenmount Campus in Antrim on Saturday morning.  Tommy Hughes, an international athlete, participated in this 8,000 metres race.  Fortunately the ground was firm and once again, this event attracted a very competitive line-up of runners.  Tommy adeptly made his way around the course and finished well up the field in a very swift time of 29:26. This was superb running as always from Tommy.

 SSE Airtricity Dublin City Marathon

On Sunday morning, 20,000 athletes were limbering up on Fitzwilliam Street in preparation for the 39th Dublin City Marathon.  A long period of conscientious training reached its culmination for ten TRC members who were among this eager throng of runners.  All the hard work certainly came to fruition because there were outstanding performances from every TRC member.  Thomas Doherty and Helena Quinn were the first two members home and both obtained incredible PBs.  Other PBs were recorded by Anne O’Doherty and Declan Leung.  After this event, Christian Fortes O’Neill is only two races away from completing his 50th marathon and Declan Leung now has a total of 23 marathons to his name.  Tara Montgomery demonstrated what true grit can do because she was a C25k graduate just a few months ago but finished her first marathon on Sunday with ease.  It was simply an inspirational display of running and teamwork from every TRC member and the club is very proud of what everyone has achieved.

Results:  Thomas Doherty 3:08:08 PB; Helena Quinn 3:20:30 PB; Anne O’Doherty 3:34:21 PB; Gary O’Doherty 3:34:21; Kevin Darragh 3:40:13; Christian Fortes O’Neill 3:46:05; Declan Leung 3:54:56 PB; Kerry Evans 4:05:12; Tara Montgomery 4:51:31 (1st marathon); Michelle Comer 4:56:17

Watty Grahams Trick or Trot

TRC members got into the Halloween spirit when they participated in the Watty Grahams Trick or Trot 5k/10k on Sunday afternoon.  The beautiful autumnal weather made the conditions very pleasant but there were a few tough hills to contend with.  Shauna Melaugh had a brilliant race and finished as 1st lady in 5k.  Overall there were fantastic performances from everyone. Full results:  5K : Shauna Melaugh  23:51,  Denise Martin 25.33,  Edel Mulholland 29:24. 10K Jacqueline McGonigle 1:11:40.

Congratulations to all the TRC members who represent the club so well throughout the country and farther afield.  If you are interested in joining Termoneeny RC please visit termoneenyrc.com or send us a message on facebook.
