2013 Termoneeny 10K

Sunday 12th May saw a large number of people take to the roads around Lavey for Termoneeny Running Clubs’ 5th annual 10K Road Race and 5K fun run/walk despite the poor weather. Once again, the race started in Gulladuff on Quarry Road with Tommy Stevenson, Sports Development Officer with Lavey GAC / Termoneeny Community Centre giving final instructions and words of encouragement before sending the participants on their way.

This year chip timing was in operation for the 10K race, and the club wish to thank their member Paddy McErlean for devising the programme and getting the system set up and operational for the day.

The 10K had 138 entrants and congratulation goes to the first male runner home in the 10K event, in a time of 34 mins 22 secs, local man Tommy Hughes who runs for North Belfast Harriers. Tommy is from Lavey and the Termoneeny Running Club were delighted that he participated in their race this year. It was funny that he had been invited to present the prizes this year, so his younger brother Damian, deputised for him to present his winnings!

The 5K fun run/walk had 105 registered participants with a large number of youth taking part which bodes well for the future of Termoneeny Running Club! The first and second place once again went to brothers Kevin and Aidan Toner.
