Whilst it was a quiet weekend on the racing front, many Termoneeny Runners, still managed to get out and attend MUSA parkrun and a full marathon before 2018 draws to a close!
EAMS Black Eye Friday Marathon, Friday 21st December
Well done to Declan Leung on completing his 25th Marathon on Friday. This was Declan’s 13th Marathon of 2018 (he ran another marathon only 6 days before)
The East Antrim Marathon was aptly named Black Eyed Friday to coincide with the last Friday before Christmas Day. The route started at Loughshore Park (Jordanstown) and made its way towards Gideons Green along the seafront, 4.2 mile loops and then finished with a smaller loop. Declan ran a great time of 4:21:50, shaving 20 minutes off his previous marathon last weekend.
What a year it’s been for Declan this year. Who knows what challenges Declan will set himself in 2019?
MUSA, Saturday 22nd December
Tommy Hughes and Jarlath Hughes both ran sublime times at MUSA on Saturday. Jarlath finished fourth overall in an excellent time of 16:35 and Tommy was 6th in a fantastic time of 17:20. Both men achieved new Parkrun personal bests. Well done to you both.
Not too many running clubs can say one of their members holds the highest age grade at a parkrun event. Tommy Hughes holds this title at MUSA with an age grade of 90.96% (VM55-59). A brilliant achievement for this marvellous athlete. (Age Grade gives runners an indication of how well a runner has done relative to their age and gender).
What a fantastic year this has been for our members. Congratulations to everyone who participated in a huge variety of local and not so local runs this year. We are excited to see what 2019 will bring! Termoneeny RC wish all their members a happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Congratulations to all the TRC members who represent our running club near and far. It is wonderful to see the TRC orange and white running top at so many events. If you are interested in joining TRC please visit termoneenyrc.com or send us a message on facebook.
