Podium Positions for Termoneeny

It was a week of podium finishes for Termoneeny Running Club with Declan Leung picking up prizes at two events and members, Thomas Doherty and Fergal Hughes, both finishing in third place at their respective parkruns.  Alongside these great achievements were excellent performances by everyone else from the club who took part in events over the weekend.

Parkrun

MUSA

The aforementioned Thomas Doherty put on stellar display of running on Saturday when he completed MUSA parkrun in third place with a fantastic time of 18.36.

Antrim

Anne Breen secured a new course PB at Antrim parkrun in her 19th parkrun with a brilliant time of 32:58.

Ecos

Another tremendous PB was achieved by Fergal Hughes at Ecos parkrun, who not only finished in third position, but he ran his first sub 20 minute 5k in a super time of 19:52.

Congratulations to all three club members on brilliant parkruns.

Loop the Lough

Declan Leung, Christian Fortes O’Neill and James McNally took on another ultra marathon on Saturday in the Loop the Lough challenge. Beginning at 6am from Portaferry, the route travelled around Strangford Lough via Newtonards, Killylea and Downpatrick with the finish line located in Strangford. The total distance covered by each man was a huge 53.38 miles. Despite the length of this race making it difficult enough, the trio had to endure a second half that was inundated with hills including long drags and steep climbs. Declan Leung achieved 3rd place with a time of 10 hrs 44 mins and was presented with a hard earned and well deserved trophy. This was another fantastic feat for Declan as he also obtained 3 PBs just last week. James and Christian ran the whole course together and finished strongly in 11 hrs and 50 mins. Well done again to Christian, James and Declan who always continue to inspire with their accomplishments.

Run Anon 5k/10k

Declan Leung, Tara Montgomery and Jacqueline McGonigle took part in the Run – Anon Lough View 10k/5k on Sunday morning. This annual run started in Crumlin and took in fabulous scenery around Lough Neagh. There were great performances by all three TRC members but a special mention goes to Declan Leung who finished the 5k in 2nd place. This was a noteworthy achievement for Declan considering he ran almost 54 miles on the previous day. Declan picked up another trophy making it his second of the weekend.
Results:
5k
Declan Leung 22:31 (2nd place)
10k
Tara Montgomery 53:56
Jacqueline McGonigle 1:13:17
