Three in a row for Declan Leung.

As we say a final goodbye to a summer of persistent running and as the month of September comes to a close; it is wonderful to see so many Termoneeny runners still taking part in a variety of different races.

Erdinger Okoberfest 5k Newry, Friday 28th September

Congratulations to Declan Leung who ran the @oktoberfest 5k in Newry on Friday night. This was the last Oktoberfest 5k. Declan achieved a new personal best time of 20:46. Well done Declan. We hope you enjoyed the liquid refreshments following the race.

Parkruns

MUSA

Declan Leung did not show any signs of tiredness in his legs following is 5k race on Friday evening. Declan ran a new parkrun personal best time of 20:35 in MUSA. Declan shaved 11 seconds off last night’s 5km time!

Antrim

Anne Breen ran her 18th parkrun in Antrim in a great time of 34:22. Well done Anne.

Bangor 10k

Almost 1000 runners took part in the popular Bangor 10k on Saturday. This route is a scenic one going through the town, village, coast and countryside. All runners were rewarded with a bespoke bell shaped medal featuring the Bangor Bell.  Tommy Hughes joined this huge throng on runners and had a fantastic race. Tommy ran a super time of 37:50. Congratulations Tommy!

The Brocagh School run 5k and 10k, Co.Tyrone Saturday 29th September

The second annual School Run took place on Saturday morning. There were two options to choose from both a 10k and 5k.  Shane Hurrell, whose children both attend St. Brigid’s PS Brocagh, ran the 5k in a super time of 21:37. Well done Shane.

Kells and Connor Charity Running Festival, Ballymena. Saturday 29th September

Every penny raised from this race went to the fantastic charity Cancer Fund for Children. There were two options to choose from; half marathon and 5 miles. Thomas Doherty represented TRC at this race on Saturday. He took part in the 5-mile race. Thomas ran an excellent time of 31:35 and finished in fifth position.

Monaghan Phoenix Marathon Festival 2018, Sunday 30th September

On Sunday Christian Fortes O’Neill and James McNally (TRC dynamic duo) travelled to Monaghan to take part in the Monaghan Phoenix 5th anniversary marathon festival. It’s been a while since these two have ran a race together. Following the antics of Christian and James in 2017, it was wonderful to see both runners racing together again. Christian broke 4 hours running an amazing time of 3:55 and James completed the 26.2 miles in a super time of 4:42. The route consisted of one lap around Monaghan Town and 4 loops of Rossmore forest park. This was a very hilly course with difficult terrain. This was Christian’s 46th Marathon and James’ 33rd. Well done to the both of you!

Granny Rafferty’s to Galbally, 10k,  Sunday 30th Sep

This 10km race was in memory of Tiarnan Rafferty. The race started from Tiarnan’s granny Raffertys to Galbally. All proceeds raised went towards the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust. Declan Leung and Jacqueline McGonigle attended this race from TRC. Declan managed to churn out his third PB of the weekend! He ran an excellent 10k time of 44:41. Declan’s legs did not show any sign of tiredness, achieving 3 personal bests in three consecutive days! No mean feat on what was a very challenging and hilly course. Jacqueline also had a great race, completing the 6.2 miles in a great time of 1:11. A fantastic result, following Jacqueline’s first half marathon last weekend. Well done to you both.Congratulations to all the TRC members who represent our running club near and far.
