The Walled City Marathon took place in Derry on the 2nd of June, in front of a large enthusiastic crowd of spectators. Lavey man Tommy Hughes (running with North Belfast Harriers) won the open race with a fantastic time of 2:30:32.
Termoneeny Running Club was well represented at the event with 11 runners. Five of the Termoneeny men managed to break the 4 hour mark on a tough hilly course. John Hughes was first home in an excellent time of 3:02:42. Tony Toner was the next Termoneeny man home in a time of 3:27:32. Damian Hughes (3:29:29) and James Mc Nally (3:56:31) and Joe Young (3:58:38) were the other three sub four hour men.
The other Termoneeny runners were: Brendan O’Kane: 4:05:17; Kieran Henry: 4:10:59; Shaun Dillon: 4:11:41; Pat Doole: 4:16:12; Patrick Mc Erlean: 4:35:57 and Phelim Mulholland: 4:44:01.
The club would like to congratulate the organising committee for putting on such a fantastic event, and the people of Derry for their excellent support the whole way around the course.
