It was yet another successful week of racing for Termoneeny running Club with a great representation of members at a range of different events.
Enniskillen Model Primary School 5k
On Friday evening, Jacqueline McGonigle and Sinead McGrogan journeyed to County Fermanagh for the Enniskillen Model Primary School 5k. This race was set in the beautiful grounds of Castle Coole Estate and the course consisted of both road and trail terrain. Both ladies enjoyed this event enormously and reported of excellent hospitality afterwards. Well done to Sinead who completed the 5k in 30:32 and also to Jacqueline who was close behind her and finished in 32:11.
EAMS 6 Hour Challenge
Long distance enthusiasts Fergal Hughes and Kerry Archibald both took on a huge challenge by travelling to Loughshore on Friday night for the EAMS 6 Hour Challenge which consisted of running as many laps of 4.2 miles as possible. There was relentless rainfall during the event but Kerry still managed to run 13.4 miles and Fergal completed 29.4 miles. This was a fantastic achievement for both Kerry and Fergal.
Stunnerz N Runnerz 5k
Saturday morning saw the annual Sperrin Harriers’ ladies-only Stunnerz N Runnerz race take place. This year the location was moved to Drum Manor Forest and the distance changed to 5k. It was as popular as ever with many different running clubs in attendance and the wet weather did not dampen any spirits. The course was a tricky one with some very steep uphill sections to tackle but there was a great atmosphere at this event and everyone had a fantastic time. Although the conditions did not favour personal bests, everyone ran brilliantly.
Results: Catherine Paul 27:07; Maureen McGuckin 28:09; Lindsay Gibson 29:26; Karen Shaw 29:34; Claire Hassan 30:13; Karen O’Donnell 31:13; Denise Cunningham 32:59; Kay McPeake 33:45; Jacqueline McGonigle 34:52; Anne Breen 34:58; Pauline McWilliams 37:52; Naomi Marshall 38:56

Congratulations to the Club Secretary, Declan Leung, who gained his Coach in Running Fitness (CIRF) qualification. The focus of this award is on coaching participants to improve their fitness through running. Declan already gives so much of his time to benefit the running community and is a thoroughly suitable person to hold such a qualification. Well done Declan.
